I'm currently detoxing from my Ativan/lorazepam and am down to .5 mg for the day and I am also on gabapentin three times a day to help with anxiety/agoraphobia. My psychiatrist told me to take seroquel at night for racing thoughts which I'm taking to mean anxiety. He also said I could take half of a pill (12.5 mg) during the day for the same racing thoughts. I don't have sleeping problems at night so am concerned about the sedating effects of seroquel during the day. I'm really in need of something to calm me down so I can leave my house and do general tasks. I've read good and bad things so I guess everyone is different. Does anyone take it regularly during the day to treat panic? Thanks and sorry for the rambling thoughts!
Quetiapine - Do you take seroquel during the day to calm anxiety?

Sequel? Wow that's really strong to take during the day. I wouldn't but that's just me. My son takes it on a daily basis. If he takes it during the day he's knocked out. Ask your doctor for something else for the day time.
Thanks for your reply! I talked to my doc the day after I asked this question and he said really just to use it at night for racing thoughts/high anxiety. I was more concerned from a detoxing from my benzodiazepine stand point. Figuring it out one day at a time. Thanks again!
I'm happy for you. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks that's really nice. The agoraphobia is ridiculous!
I know my anxiety keeps me from going anywhere. It really does suck. I've had it most of my life it's hereditary.
I've heard about the anxiety being hereditary but have always wondered as my memories of my parents are the polar opposite of anxious and introverted. Although my mom died when I was ten and my dad at 21 so maybe I never really knew the true struggles if there were any. I already see anxiousness in my daughter at nine years old although I'm probably making her worry more than she would if I wasn't this way! Do you struggle with meds or have you found one that feels decent?
Mostly I stick to my trazodone at night. 300mg. Yeah I know that's a lot. I worked up to that over the years. Clonidine 0.2mg through out the day as needed. It's a pretty good little pill. Unfortunately my daughter and son inherited the anxiety. They're grown. Like 25 & 26 I'm 44. I really hope your daughter doesn't get it. You'll know in a few more years if she has it . Good luck. :-)
I'd never heard of either of your drugs. How long have you been on them? I'm always looking for the wonder drug that will save me. Probably doesn't exist but I'm staying positive. The first one you said you take at night sounds good to me. I'm wondering more about the one you take during the day. I read good things about it being a good stand in for benzos but that it lowers your blood pressure. Do you have experience with that? I'd love to have a decent chill pill that isn't a benzo! Thanks for your input.
Clonidine doesn't affect my my blood pressure. Benzos used to be my choice of meds for almost all my ailments. I have sleep problems depression anxiety and a few more. Talk to your doctor about what is out there for the day time.
