ER doctor prescribed Prednisone 20mg tab 2 times a day for 4 days (total 40mg per day) and Pepcide for 5 days when I was released from energy room due to a serious antibiotic allergy. PrednISONE is a very strong steroid. I had chest congestion, feeling weak and lost appetite the day after my last dosage. I would suggest you calling your pharmacy and talk to a pharmacist regarding to your side effects. I received very helpful advices and instructions from my pharmacist . In deed the pharmacist know medicines far more better than family doctors. Hope you feel better.
For me, these side effects lasted until the prednisone was out of my system totally. I have Bipolar Disorder and steroids always put me into mania with its usual agitation and inability to focus or concentrate.
Are you just doing a cycle of prednisone or are you on it long term? It’s a very powerful medication. I’ve obly done the temporary thing where you decrease your dose everyday until you’re off. I found that the only thing that helped was getting off it. Some people do take it long term and I think it does even out, I just don’t know how long that takes.
