My husband, 56 years old, was diagnosed with PMR in May, 2015. His condition is being "managed" by both his Rheumatologist and GP. He had the most relief when he was taking 30-40mg of prednisone daily. He has been placed on methyltrexate 8mg, weekly, apx 12 weeks ago and has been tapered down to 10mg of prednisone. He is relapsing and getting worse. He was on 12 weeks FMLA/sick leave from May until August. I'm just grasping for straws now to help him. I worry for him. Please help with ideas. We see his rheumatologist on Sept 15th for his 6 week follow up. I really don't know how much more he can take. He is a fighter and is doing his best.

I would request to repeat sed rate and crp now instead of waiting. In that way the rheumatologist can adjust the dosage of prednisone if needed now. I have had to do that. Generally speaking when the pain increases there is often a flare which can be treated. Good luck to you both.
