Pepcid "Famotidine" works by blocking histamine H2 receptors that are found on the cells in the stomach lining. A natural body chemical called histamine normally binds to these receptors, causing the cells to produce stomach acid. By blocking the H2 receptors, Pepcid "famotidine"prevents histamine from binding to them. This stops the cells from producing stomach acid
Depression as a side effect of Pepcid "famotidine" is very rare (affect less than 1 in 10,000 people). <1%, postmarketing, and/or case reports.
Depression is found among people who take Famotidine, especially for people who are female, 60+ old , have been taking the drug for < 1 month, also take medication Prednisone, and have Pain.
Can you tell me where you found the info on famotidine and prednisone? I can't find it online. Thanks!
Yes, what is the source? I fit those categories and have developed depression.
I have taken Pepcid off and on for 5 years and never acquired depression. Check with your pharmacy to make sure. Also, there are many ways to find if clinical studies suggest depression or other avairant. Plus go on there web site to find more info. I hope this helps.
