Does anyone know if it is safe to use Nizoral (ketoconazole) cream for a foot fungus and Ambien at night for insomnia? I found that there is a moderate interaction with both of them however I also take an ADHD stimulant, a mood stabilizer (lamotrigine) and bupropion during the day. I know I should talk to my psychiatrist about but I don’t see him for a full month and this foot fungus is killing my foot and it’s waking me up at night because I have to scratch until it bleeds. Any advice?
Nizoral and Ambien safety?

I am not sure about the interaction but I have been on Ambien before and it can be a great medicine if taken properly, but it can definitely become an issue if taken before you get in bed. I started to take it a little earlier as I went and started staying up on it, if you resist the initial sleepiness you become euphoric and do stuff that you wouldn't normally, like end up in another town at 3:00am at Walmart with $600 worth of junk! I know people who had become very addicted to Ambien. I haven't taken it in years and it is a great medicine if taken when your going to sleep, because you wake up fresh without that groggy feeling. I know this wasn't the answer you were looking for just wanted to relay my experience and if it helps anyone great, if not he I tried. Good luck.
Thanks for your input it does help, I decided not take the Nizoral. I have been having insomnia for a while however my psychiatrist had me try trazodone for a month and it seemed like it was working until I developed this incredibly bad headache that lasted a whole week. Then in June I was put on Ambien 5mg which was awesome I slept 8-9hrs for a week but then I started waking up 4-5hrs later every single night so I am now on 10mg Ambien but still waking up 4hrs later I guess you can’t win either way.
