... years with no side effects. Each tablet represented one day of living instead of lying down in a dark room. I experienced a very severe side effect on the last two occasions of taking Sumatriptan. I have very severe heavy chest pains which came on 30 mins after taking Sumatriptan and the very uncomfortable feeling lasted for 45 mins. Since experiencing these side effects I am left with a mild version of the heavy uncomfortable feeling
What can I take for migraine instead of Sumatriptan. I have been taking Sumatriptan for over 25?

Gina when I am hm and have access to my Imitrex injections that is my first choice. However, when I am at work or on the road I do not carry my injections of Imitrex instead I take a pill form of Maxalt.
I find the only difference between Imitrex subcutaneously and Maxalt 10 mg tablets is "the time it takes for the migraine to go away" Because the Maxalt is taken by mouth it takes longer for the headache/migraine to go away.
I find Maxalt to be a good alternative when I don't have access to my injection kit.
Like Imitrex, Maxalt can cause some drowsiness. I however have taken both meds and neither Med makes me drowsy.
Hope it this information helped.
