Has anyone else experienced delayed side effects with Flagyl? My last dose was Monday, and since Sunday night I’ve suffered from heart palpitations, rapid heart rates, shortness of breath, and extreme anxiety that gets worse while lying down at night. The feeling you get in the back of your throat when you know you’re about to cry is how I’ve felt constantly throughout the day everyday this week. The only thing keeping me from going to the ER thinking I’m having a heart attack is the reviews from others. It’s been 3 days since my last dose and these are the only side effects I’ve had and they don’t seem to be getting better.

I also had these side effects! I took the pills for three and a half days, 7 doses total and stopped them 4 days ago. Still feeling some side effects now but it comes and goes and isn’t constant…How long did it take for you to feel like your old self?

Yes, I took Flagyl twice daily for the first three days with no big side effects (beyond the metallic taste). On day four I suddenly became super anxious/nervous, tremorous, tingling, twitching, severe insomnia - almost felt like I could have a seizure. Had to call in sick to work. Called my doc and she said to stop it immediately. It probably took three days for symptoms to subside. Too bad, since the drug seemed to be working but I just couldn’t risk it, and it’s now on my allergy list. Hope side effects ease for you and you can find another solution.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who experienced these side effects. I ended up taking the whole amount and the side effects are just now starting to subside a little and it’s been almost a week since my last dose. It definitely helped treat the issue but never again will I take it for anything.
