Uncontrolable rash and itchy spots... random, on arms, hands, legs, feet, face... very, very itchy... scratching draws blood & the itch is still there... ongoing & extremely uncomfortable... skin is tender everywhere on the body.

Taking metoprolol succinct has given me many side effects and the doctor has not changed my meds yet. 3 trips to the e.r.
I get very lightheaded at times. Head pain also.
I was on other b.p. Meds years ago and they all were bad for me.
I take the topranol for palpitations. Occasional rising blood pressures.
Don't know what would happen with changing. I take half of 25mg once a day ..sometime take a second half. Tried to get off the med but blood pressures issues started and have to take the half.
Hello area53. Welcome to the site. Lots of support to be found on the site and I do agree with the two previous answers. Best of wishes, hope you are feeling somewhat better, pledge
Thank you Pledge. People like this that don't want your opinion should do as a very wise friend of mine has told me many times; take the best & leave the rest! People that bash others willl not last long on a site such as this where most are not medical professionals, but answer through or by experience. Yes, a few of us have medical training & a few are nurses. In a case such as this, I believe being on a weekend, if the symptoms were that bad the person should have seeked a professionals advice such as through an ER. It is very hard to advice someone without their entire medical history is why I refer them to the FDA approved html on the med they are asking about. Have a great day my friend, & keep the cuppas coming whether hot or iced! About ready to make the switch as it's already over 90 degrees here. :O( Will take a donot or something too if available! ... I agree Mary. I myself have also have had people becoming down right nasty. I put it down to ill manners. People ask a question and I answer. Don't care for my answer. Not an issue for me, simply do not heed my advice. Old expression, you asked, you get feed back. Don't like the response, thats fine. But by asking for help or advice or an opinion, be prepared for a possible variety of answers. Some will be appreciated, some will not. Take care and stay cool Mary.
Relax, folks... I guess differences in opinon should be kept to one's self. At any rate, my Dr. advised me today, that the vertigo-like symptoms are not from the metoprolol at all. I've been referred to an ear, nose, throat specialist. Apparently, metoprolol has brought my BP down to a satisfactory level, but now I have no idea where the Vertigo-type symptoms come from.
He may be thinking it's inner ear related. That doesn't explain the ichting all over altho.' Did your doctor think you may need to see a dermatologist also? Just a thought. Still sounds like allergy related, but who knows. I wouldn't venture to guess at this point for sure. Glad you saw your doctor & can relax a bit... Mary
Helo area53, & welcome to the site. Liz is absolutely correct in saying it sounds like an allergic reaction. Please read the side effects in the link I am providing below. Contact your doctor imeediately, & unless you have really severe high blood pressure it would be my reccomendation you stop this med now. I am not a doctor, but have severe alleriges, & this can be your problem with this med. Please keep in mind that allergies to a med can be life threatening ... Mary

Mary632009 - I don't think u are in a position to make health recommendations to people in self/acclaimed 'life & death situations'. If I followed your recommendation(s), I would probably die. I think maybe u like to see your own advice in print. I've dealt w/allergies all my life but I will never recommend my methods to someone else... everyone is different!
I said to contact your doctor, & if it were me I would stop taking it immediately due to the fact if it's a 'life threatening' condition or allergy... If you read the link, it did say you could have swelling of the mouth & throat also. THIS IS LIFE THREATENING! When you stop breathing let me know how you feel... Mary
I might also add that you posted on a weekend, & usually people have trouble getting hold of their docs on a weekend, especially Sunday. I have worked for many doctors in my career, & also take a beta blocker myself. Not taking a beta blocker for one day is NOT going to kill you, but having an allergic reaction can if you stop breathing. If you do not want advice, then why did you ask a non-medical site a question in the first place. I gave you the link to read about your symptoms & if you can read, you would have seen that the symptoms you were describing WERE from a side effect. You never know with allergies when it can become worse, & having your throat swell shut can be deadly if not treated right away. Do as you wish, but don't bash me for a proper answer... Mary
Hi area53, welcome to the site, I was taking this medication for a while up until a few days ago when I had to stop it due to low blood pressure all of a sudden. The only thing that I found being on this medication was being lightheaded so I thought, until I stopped it and I still have the lightheaded feeling. So I don't think it was this medication now. It was a very good medication to take when my blood pressure and heart rate was going to high, but to be honest it sounds like you are having a reaction to this medication or another one that you are taking, with the symptoms you are talking about. But I am not a doctor and this is just an opinion, plus not knowing what other medications your on it is hard to say if this medication is solely the one medication causing your symptoms. you should talk to your doctor about what is going on with you, if you haven't already. So I hope you get more answers to your question soon, Liz.
