I just started taking metformin less about a week ago for PCOS, periods, and try to conceive. But I’m also on a couple other medicines. I am having some symptoms that I guess may be concerning and just want to know if anyone else is experiencing or has experienced these. I’m having flu symptoms. My throat feels like very hard to swallow, I’m tired, I feel kind of weak. I feel like I have the flu but I felt 100 percent fine before I started taking these meds. Any advice or help?

Yes, this is a side effect of metformin. Less than 10% of patients experience flu-like symptoms but it does happen, exactly like what you're describing. Side effects like this usually don't last forever and should taper off after about 1-2 weeks. If they persist, let your prescriber know.
Thank you so much! My symptoms are going away slowly! :)
