No more than 4000 mgs per day and 1000 per single dose. An extra strength tablet contains 500mg.
I thought that they had lowered the maximum recommended dose last year?
The recommendation changed to 3gm per day last year but the guidelines still say 4 gms. I still dispense 4 grams a few times per day. Its is impossible for 4 grams to cause liver damage the lethal dose is a couple grams higher than that unless there is a liver condition . The FDA lowered the recommendations just to make sure there is room for error due to patients sometime taking other meds that have tylenol without knowing such as percocet, otc products and such.
