I've been taking 50 mg of Trazodone per night for post menopausal insomnia since August, 2021. It really helps the insomnia but in the last year my weight has been steadily increasing and I have gained 10 pounds despite continuing my usual exercise and healthy diet routine. Has anyone else experienced weight gain from long-term use of a low dose of Trazodone or must it be something else?
Does low dose trazodone for insomnia cause weight gain with long-term use?

I've been taking 100mg trazodone for insomnia along with 1mg Klonopin every night (50mg didn't work for me apart from give me a lot of side effects) for just over two months now and have found it, combined with my other meds have made me lose weight (which I wanted) as I won't take any that will make me gain weight as Prozac did that for me, or rather started that, three years ago.
Unfortunately, most if not all psychotropic medications have the potential to cause weight changes... gain or loss... and this usually is not dose dependent. If you didn't gain weight when you started the trazodone it may not be what's causing it now but you might want to ask your doctor about it,
"Metabolic
Common (1% to 10% of users): Weight gain, weight loss
Frequency not reported: Anorexia, increased appetite"
Best regards and I'm glad you're sleeping well.
