Been on a very low dose for a week. Horrible side effects - nausea, diarrhea (which I can cope with), increased depression, alternate insomnia and 24 hour sleeping.
Anyone struggle at first and then see an improvement? I want to push on but it's like I'm feeding myself something that is making me suffer.

"Due to the nature of Abilify and the severity of symptoms it may be used to treat, it isn’t uncommon to wonder how long it will take to be effective. Since everyone is different, there is no one definitive answer. It can start making a noticeable difference in just a couple days or it may take a few weeks. However, most people will have felt the full effects of the medication within four to six weeks of beginning treatment. It is important not to stop taking Abilify just because you begin feeling better. Continue your dose as instructed by your health care provider to maintain the benefits."
Hope this helps. It's a little vague but like it says everyone is different in their response to the medication. Side effects generally resolve in a week or two so the end's in sight.. I took Abilify along with my antidepressant/anxiolytic for years and I thought it was great. Very energizing.

PS, Just for the record I took the generic form (aripiprazole) not the name brand.
