Why can Linzess harm kids ages 6 to 17? I was taking this medication at 16 and I just saw the commercial and now I am kind of worried. I can't find the answer online anywhere. It says it can harm you but why? and why would my doctor prescribe it to me if it can?

Because if you have not notice this Great Place called USA loves to make money and if any doctor is giving this out to any one 18 or under they are being paid to push that drug out!! Just like any other doctor who will change your medications over and over again it's all because they are getting kick backs or is paid each time his/her name shows up as giving it out!!
Linzess should not be given to a child younger than 6 years old. Linaclotide can cause severe dehydration in a child. Do not give this medicine to any child or teenager without the advice of a doctor.
Having found this information on this website I too am wondering why they don't say not to be given to anyone under the age of 18 without direct supervision of a doctor or without hospitalization.
This commercial fascinates me because it says do not give to children under 6 and may harm children 6-17. So why not just say don't give to kids under 17?
The simple answer to your question is why most drugs aren't given to kids, there has been no testing to see if its safe.
Thank you for your answer. That makes much more sense. (: and yes, me and my mom were confused about the under 6 and 6-17 thing also lol
You do realize that you 2 and me are probably the only ones who even listen to that, lolol... bet if we did a poll no one else has heard it.
Ha! I noticed it, too! That's what brought me here--searching to see if I could find any discussion regarding wording of the children's ages.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed!
Me 4. ( Probably showing my age. But when someone asked for a head count, we used to say, " Me, me too, me three " etc... ) I too was baffled by why it took so many words to say, " Not intended for anyone under 18 " Don't know what it says about those of us who caught this, other than we are people with great attention to detail! : )
I have wondered why they say that, too. Makes no sense. Most of the ads have so many warnings I don't understand why they are prescribed in the first place. And advertising keeps cost way too high.
My wife and I laugh every time we see this commercial because of how it's worded. I figure there has to be some legal reason why it must be worded this way.
I also find it odd when you see a new drug commercial for a couple months, and THEN you start seeing a slightly altered version of that commercial and never see the original again... Like, what was the problem with the original? (the big bad wolf grandpa COPD commercial, and the dry eye commercial where the girl originally says "My doctor told me I have a type of dry eye disease... That's a big deal!")
Not only did I catch it, I had to rewind the commercial 3 times to make sure I heard that right lol.
Then I came here. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that was worded very oddly.
