I’ve been on Lexapro for almost 4 weeks. 3 of them on 5mg and going into 4th on 10mg. I take Xanax for situational anxiety. Just want to know that I don’t have to take the Xanax forever
Will Lexapro help me to where I won’t have to take Xanax?

Hi, allthings!
I understand your wish to get off Xanax... the benzodiazepines can be more trouble than they're worth.
It usually takes about 6-8 weeks for Lexapro to become fully effective and you're now at the standard recommended dose which may be therapeutic for you. The dose can even be increased to 20mg if needed.
Give it another few weeks and you should be good to go!
Best regards and be patient. You'll be able to wean off the Xanax very soon now.

P.S. Be sure to have your doctor supervise your withdrawal when the time comes.
Hi! Yes I only take it for school since I have severe anxiety now because of my panic disorder. I just want to be on the lexapro but the Xanax is the only thing helping me right now
