My doctor has prescribed Lexapro and buspirone for me. Has anyone taken these together? I've never been on any medications like these but my husband has dementia and I'm his only caregiver and I can't seem to sleep from not being able to turn my mind off and relax. Thanks!
Lexapro and Buspar - are they safe?

Should not be an issue for you (depending on your dosages). The slight risk of serotonin syndrome increases as the dosages do. Your doctor knows what is best for you, so be sure to let them know if you start to have any odd symptoms (which you probably won’t). Buspirone is a great drug to “shut off my mind at night so I can sleep.” I hope this helps, good luck to you!
Hi, ssdaniels!
There is a small risk of a condition called serotonin syndrome which is rare but can become serious. Mild cases usually resolve within a few days but it's also readily treatable in the early stages. You should acquaint yourself with the symptoms just to be safe. Here's a link:

I took Lexapro for over 7 years along with buspirone and had no problem with the combination.
