Is 5mg lexapro enough for whole life for a 63 year old man like me. I think if it help i would like to take it for life as i read good review here. I ask my doctor but he told me to take 10mg. But 10 mg causes me extreme day time drowsiness, so i thought of taking 5 mg without his knowledge.
But would like to hear from experience taker here. Thank for your reply in advance.

Hi, cheongwee!
5mg is enough if it works for your individual response to it but you'll need to take it for at least 6-8 weeks to find out if it's truly effective. Everybody is different but many people need a higher dose.
You don't mention how long you've been taking it but side effects like drowsiness generally resolve within a couple of weeks.
You should report this side effect to your doctor and be sure to tell them of your dosage change for professional advice. Your doctor can't help you if you hide your dosage. It's very important to stay in close touch with them!
Best regards,
I just got an email from my consultant, He said 10mg can see result faster. I guess i take it early in the evening to prevent falling alseep in my job.
Thank for your kind reply. God bless you. May u be well and happy always.
You're most welcome.
Best wishes that you're feeling better quickly.
