Should I take letrozole or just do radiation for stage 1 breast cancer?

I too was stage 1 and extremely healthy… and 73.
I was ER+ & HER2+ with no lymph node involvement The preventive treatment plan for HER2 has possible fatal side effects and not sure I’m going to take this route so totally understand your concern. My tumor was smaller than a pea and surgeon took lots of extra tissue. So basically I’m considered cancer free, for now.
I’m starting radiation treatment next week. It’s supposed to kill any underlying cancer cells that may have been left.
I hope you will post how your treatment goes. Sorry I don’t have answers for what comes next. Prayers to everyone that has to go through this.

I recently had a lumpectomy for stage 1 breast cancer, very small, met criteria for internal radiation twice a day for 5 days, now started letrozole, I am concerned about loss of bone density etc as well, I have decided to try it for awhile and assess side effects. I’m very surprised that you have not be advised to have radiation too, as from what I know that’s the protocol. Best Wishes! ( I’m 71)
