No. You cannot compare the two medications, as they are in very different classes (Buspar is a member of the piperazine and azapirone chemical classes, Xanax is a benzodiazepine).
In my experience, Buspar was worse than a placebo - did nothing to help my anxiety, and had horrid side-effects. It is generally considered to be not all that effective by many physicians.
Xanax is much stronger/potent and relieves anxiety symptoms in a far greater number of patients than Buspar. I'd say any dose of Xanax (.25-2mg) is stronger/more effective than Buspar. But Buspar might help you, as everyone is different.
