Hydrochlorothiazide/Losartan - Is it okay to split Losartan/Hctz 50/12 tablets in half, taking half in am, and half in pm?
What I have noticed is that if I exert myself after taking a full pill my blood pressure can drop dramatically, taking half in am and half in pm reduces the drop to a manageable level.
When I am at rest without losartan my average blood pressure 80/110 pulse 100, with losartan 135/85 pulse 80.
If I take full dosage in, am I must exercise too little, or risk 62/44 84 pulse.
If I take full dosage in pm my blood pressure is not as controlled.
I am taking prescribed daily dosage.
Does splitting the pill change any of the time delay properties in the coating?

If you need a dose adjustment, instead of taking matters into your own hands by splitting the pill in half, I suggest you speak to your Dr. and get professional advice.
Talk to your doctor but I split my 100 Losartan. I try for morning and evening but not right before bed. It seems to interfere with sleep, paradoxically. 100 just knocks me out if taken all at once and makes me so sleepy I don’t notice objects that might hit me in the head, cars, etc.
