I took Cogentin for 4 months and it caused awful water weight gain and water toxicity due to Urinary Retention.
I was advised to stop taking it almost 3 weeks ago. I'm starting to feel a little bit better, but I still have quite a ways to go.
Any estimate of how long until it is completely out of my system and this issue is resolved???

Answers
Cogentin has a very short half life of around 1.7 hours.
For a drug to be totally eliminated from your system it takes 5.5 times the half life.
Therefore it would take 1.7 x 5.5 = 9.35 hours for a dose of Cogentin to be out of your system.
However other factors to consider include:
1. How much and how often you have taken the drug.
2. Your metabolic rate – a slower metabolism will increase the time a drug remains in your system.
3. Your age and health – older age and poor health will generally increase the time the drug stays in your system.
4. Body mass – generally the bigger you are the longer a drug will remain in your system.
