I was told Paxil is not good for older people due to increased risk of dementia. Decided to switch to Lexapro and tapered from 20mg Paxil down to 10mg and slowly raised Lexapro to 10mg. Now feeling major anxiety in the mornings. I feel stuck. Is is okay to be on both?
I have been on Paxil over 23 years and am switching to Lexapro?

I am still holding at 10mg Paxil and 10mg Lexapro and I am feeling much better. I have found that I need time to stabilize with each change in dosage and now plan to reduce pax very slowly, maybe 1/2mg at a time. I have Paxil in liquid form to allow me to do this.
I am getting off paxil and on to lexapro.
I was on 20mg paxil, then went to 15mg with 5mg lexapro.
Then last Monday I did 10mg paxil and 10mg lex.
Last night I moved to 5mg paxil and 10mg lexapro. Then after a week I'll just be on lexapro.
I took have been having hightened anxiety and I am scared. I am scared im going to loose my job. Im scared I won't be able to function. I just want to feel normal.
How are you feeling now after being 10 days since you posted?
Hi, catesgroup!
No, there's potentially a significant interaction between the two medications that are both classed as SSRI drugs. It's not generally advised.

20mg/day is the maximum dosage for Lexapro so maybe you could consider an increase there.
I hope it works out for you because I found that Lexapro worked very well for me for many, many years.
