Lately my fears of my health been high, more about that is in my last question. I'm thinking about checking in with a specialist or something. And I sometimes have the fear I'm dying ... I have a lot of health issues. Any suggestions?
Has anyone taking humira experienced anxiety or taking methotrexate or prednisone?

I guess I should ask, has anyone with many health problems also have the fear like this. Like I get blood work done a lot, no problems there. But one of my doctors told me I had a lot of health issues. One of the reasons why I'm getting the rest of me checked out because I'm having breathing problems for a long time, even as we speak my chest feels tight and even though its cold I'm hot. I'm just really worried, and I hate when I worry my family, boyfriend and friends. I wonder if its just me over worrying. I'm known to have panic attacks too and my mom and boyfriend always try to get me to stay calm. I guess I need to know if it possible to be on harsh medicine like prednisone, methotrexate, and humira for a long time. Reading side effects scared me a lot on humira..

I am not sure what you have that would put you on Humira, Prednisone and/or Methotrexate. They are certainly serious meds. With that said, I look at my quality of life and what would happen if I didn't take it. I have Psoriatic Arthritis and was diagnosed last January after my first surgery (knee). I went through several pill form meds but none worked. I switched doctors and was put on pred to get "flare-ups" under control... The pred gives me sweats... Mood swings and sometimes insomnia, but taking in morning helps. I was up to 20 mg a day when my doctor started me on Humira. I did have blood tests before starting. I am down to 5 Mg of Pred a day now and Humira every 2 weeks. I suffered more from the Pred side effects so I am on a low dose of Xanax .25 Mg once daily ( if needed) for anxiety. I don't feel any side effects from Humir... maybe tired for a few days but that could be the arthritis.
Compared to the pain I felt and it spreading to other joints (also Bursitis & carpal tunnel caused by arthritis), I don't have a problem taking medication that keeps away my pain & swelling. You need to weigh information and take what works for you.

Hi may,
audra makes some good points!!
I've heard the prednisone can cause panic attacks. Perhaps a short dose of Xanax or Ativan would help you out while on steroids? I may catch flack for that, but you are the one suffering, so a Benzo may help, if used for a short time. Be careful, as they can be addictive!!
Best wishes!!
Hi Audra
when I was diagnosed with my Crohns I was so sick my doctor told me it was life threatening and was in the hospital for 4 days.
I was put on 20 mg of Pred then was put on Humaria but the problem I Have is I have Hepatitis B. I've been on it for almost 2 years And took myself off of it because I can't tolorate it( I talked to my doctor before I stopped it). It affected my muscular system and my legs were so weak, I could hardly function and the Last shot my mom had to come over and take me to the doctor so that was the last straw. Tomorrow I'm having a contrast MRI on my lower intestines to see where my Crohns is. Next Friday I am having a liver biopsy to see if the Humaria has done any thing to my liver.
Good luck to you on your journey.
Jen
Hi Jen,
Oh my you certainly have been through a lot. Having reactions like that on top of crohn's disease must be so hard.
I think with Humira.. It's not little side effects like dizziness, headaches or stomach upset, I don't really feel anything like that on Humira. Humira effects are far deeper unfortunately when they occur. I certainly don't take it lightly, it works for my joints, exhaustion and the pain once I get through a few shots. I was able to step down off of Pred to 5 mg/day and that was good/bad at the same time... Makes me crazy at times but my arthritis was manageable and I needed the Humira to fill the gap... Hoping I don't have to take Methotrexate with Humira. I pray on it a lot and my faith has helped me a Lot.
You will be in my prayers tonite;)
God bless,
Audra
Omg i have just joined this so i can reply to you as I am the exact same to what you have described and feel all alone with it , I have had Crohns for 13 years approx ...
I have had to have two lots of surgery to remove some of my bowel the first time i was ok for a few years the next time it come back with in the year . The reason I had to have surgery because those horrid prednisolone tablets made me have panic attacks for over a year i kept complaining to doctors consultants ect they made me feel like i was crazy and it was not the meds then a few years later after moving away and then coming back my consultant admitted i was right as other patience complained about the same thing then i recently over last year have had that Humira and now keep having panic attacks over and over again till i take my self off it as the doctors are now saying Humira does not cause this but guess what i dont have panic attacks when i am not on these drugs . So yes your right and i am not saying this happens to everyone else they are the lucky nes who can use the medication .
These both stimulate the adrenal glands to send "fight, flight, or freeze" messages to the brain. Some ppl do fine with them. For me, I get an extra Rx of Ativan to go along with my usual dose of Klonopin, I feel like crawling out of my skin otherwise.

May, my husband has been on methotrexate for years and has doe great on it. They do his blood work every 3-6 mos and it is always good, never had a problem. He has never taken humira. His Ra doc put him on the methotrexate and like I said he has done great on it. His brother is also on it, and I had a pt at he clinic that the doc had her on it and she also did very well on it.
