I have no idea. Medicine prescribed now has changed dramatically to what was prescribed in the 1950's . If you really want to know your best bet is to find an older pharmacist - maybe in one of those Mom and Pop stores and see if they remember.
Wow, me too. I use to take that nasty medicine. I had terrible stomatch cramps for "spastic colon" as a child. Please let me know if you find it.
i TOOK THAT MED IN THE 70'S FOR MENSTAL CRAMPS. iTS AN ANTISPASMATIC CALLED DONNATAL
Bashi, that's it! I was trying to remember it, too. It was WONDERFUL. Why did they stop it? Nothing else worked as good. That little nasty med worked like a charm. I can't swallow pills, so I *hate* taking 2 Bentyl's when I go into pain -- like now! So much better to swallow nasty liquid medicine, knowing 20 minutes from now I will feel better...
Oh! BTW, for those of u with spastic colon, you should know I read an article that ppl with s.c. actually have a different flora in their intestine! They recommend taking probiotics to change our flora to more like the regular person's. I've done it in the past, and it was a super difference, BUT during the change, I had MORE s.c. than usual!
