I was taking escitalopram for about 90 days, started with 5mg then worked up to 20mg. My doctor just switched me to 20mg fluoxetine to see if that helped my symptoms more. I have GAD and social anxiety - does anyone have experience with these two medications and which one did you feel worked better for you?

Hi, jnengle!
Escitalopram (Lexapro) was a better fit for me and I took it for about 7 years until it "pooped out" on me. But that doesn't mean it's the better medication... everyone responds to every medication differently and what's best for me may not be the best for you. It's really a matter of trial and error to find the one that works most effectively for you as an individual.
Both are good choices for anxiety disorders so if the escitalopram isn't completely controlling your symptoms the fluoxetine (Prozac) is certainly worth trying.
