I have depression and ADHD and have been trying to find a good combination of medications to treat the two. Most recently I have been taking Wellbutrin XL and Focalin XR I just added the Focalin about two months ago. While I am already tired to begin with because of the depression, I have felt more tired that usual lately. Could the Focalin be the problem? What other medicines have people taken to combat both depression and ADHD?

Focalin XR is fabulous for ADHD and have lesser side effects than the other drugs. It's less effective than Ritalin/ Adderall for treating depression. Even though Focalin is a brain stimulant, you might feel tired as it's not as effective as other drugs to treat depression. Depression can make you feel lack of energy. Other drugs like Ritalin and Provigil treat both conditions really well. This is only my one cent of the opinion. Consult with your doctor as my opinion is not a substitute of their expertise.

No, if anything it can make you a little nervous sometimes. It is a stimulant but my make you a little tired if you take too much. I don’t know how much you take.

I was on 20mg at first which was no help combating adhd issues so my doctor recently pushed the dosage up to 30mg which hasnt helped either just caused extreme fatigue, but the fatigue could be caused by something else.

I have found focalin Xr to work best on my depression. There again I feel it depends on amount you take. I have tried adderall with no luck. Do you see a psychiatrist or a gp?
