The interaction can cause a rare condition called serotonin syndrome, but your doctor should know this and adjusted the dosages accordingly. Being aware of the symptoms of this condition and reporting any symptoms to the prescribing doctor would be appropriate. Otherwise, follow your doctor's instructions. Mild headaches when first starting an antidepressant like Lexapro is not unusual. It will subside. If the headaches are actually migraines, then taking the medication your doctor prescribed is ok.
Thank you so much. I'm going to try it because this is just irritating. I am feeling already better mentally and anxiety is way down so I know the Lexapro is doing something! Thanks for your help!
I just started back on Lexapro which I used to take for years. It helped not only with depression, but anxiety as well and to a great degree. At that time, I was taking Maxalt for migraines. As of late, I've been taking Imitrex quite often, unfortunately, as my migraines have gotten worse, but this started happening way before I started the Imitrex. It does work well for me.
It's nice to be able to bounce ideas and share concerns with others on this website. I just found it today. Good luck! Be well!
I agree!! I had three headache free days and was feeling better than I had in months. But the headache started again and took an Imatrex last night and about an hour ago, now I'm fine..it does work and no side effects so far. I have Maxalt too! Just wonder how long until it stops working or how much is too much!
Hard to say. I wasn't taking it often for quite some time, but since I'm only allowed 9 pills per month, I stockpiled it. About 3 months ago my migraines started to increase and I had to dive into my stockpile. A month or so ago, I had 9 migraines in 2 weeks. That was kinda scary. I had to take 1 pill and the 2nd an hour later or 2 hours later, however it is written. I had to do that for 9 days. I've noticed that they come on mostly when I'm working. I don't think they are any less effective now but my migraines have become that way. I start PT on my neck soon and I think that will help. I hold all my stress/tension in my muscles. I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disc Disease, Scoliosis, Spondylitis and of course migraines. Hard to say which came first. I've been battling depression and anxiety all along too. Fun stuff. lol How old are you? I'll be 52 next week... female. Live in WA. How about you?
