Been on Citalopram 20mg for 5 weeks. Cannot stop sleeping, if I let myself I’d sleep 18 hours a day.
I am taking early evening and still doesn’t help. The brain fog is next level. I have hashimotos so tiredness is already a thing.
Should I keep going or try a different antidepressant like Prozac that’s supposed to be energising?
Extreme tiredness/fatigue Citalopram?

Hi, Eileeen!
Ironically most, if not all, antidepressants can cause sedation/drowsiness/somnolence -OR-insomnia/anxiety/nervousness in some users. It depends entirely on the individual's response to the medication. Generally, these side effects resolve within a couple of weeks.
Five weeks is a long time for side effects as extreme as yours. You may want to have a discussion with your doctor about the option that is most likely the best choice for you.
Best regards and I hope you find a good solution.
I could sleep all day and I've been on the medication for seven months. Along with the other side effects I'm going to my doctor to try something else if I haven't been on it already. Watch out for passing suicidal thoughts that are created by the medication and not you. You are fine.
