Yes, definitely. After a difficult surgery, the doctors put me on high dose prednisone to help me heal.
It did that but it made me hallucinate a lot. In other words, I was trippin' hard for days. Not totally unpleasant but very much a waking dream state.
Yes! Auditory and visual. Hear voices in my left ear. Have seen 2 purple standard poodles playing together in my living room. Thought I was losing my pain addled mind.
Yes, I have taken this medication twice and both times had auditor and visual hallucinations that terrified me. My grandmother had the same experience throughout her life whenever she was put on the med. Not sure what is in it or us that makes this occur but it scares me enough to tell doctors I cannot and will not take it!
Yes, this is my 2nd time using prednisone- I am a smaller person and maybe that has something to do with it also this time was a different manufacturer ( the pills looked totally different). The first time every joint in my body felt better. I was on taper for 12 days. I did notice stomach upset everyday. This time im on a 40mg a morning for 5 days (burst) they call it. Taking it for a upper respiratory infection. The first night I took it ( note I was told to take it in the morning but the pharmacy messed up my order and I got it late) ... so I took it and went to bed 3 hours later- the second I closed my eyes, weird neon flashes and pictures... horrible images flashing at me, buzzing sounds, just terrifying. It wouldn't end basically. FInally I took my ambien, it had zero effect. WIDE AWAKE and tripping for 7 hours until it ran through my system
So yes I think it can cause visual and auditory haullucinations. Try taking in first thing in the morning with FOOD. Im actually scared to go to bed tonight lol- I will update if it starts again
Yes, I just had cataracts surgery in my right eye and was instructed to use AC 1% prednisolone 5 ML . I take two drops a day, one in morning at night and it's the last medication drop I take prior to going to sleep. What I see seems to be programmed software as if there's a computer in the lens they placed inside my cornea. The standard cataract surgery now inserts a standard lens into the eye. It seems like I have a computer program with HD vision open up portals that I saw an AI female robot pointing at me as if I was a threat to it. I saw it clearly and once saw a lab technician working in his office. I don't want to see these things and think they are beta testing this lense for other purposes.
Prednisone can cause mood or psychiatric changes including hallucinations. These can be severe. You should talk with your doctor.

Suzann I did not find hallucinations as part of the severe side effects. Psychosis is not the same as hallucinations. Mood changes are well documented.
Again, I think it imperative that a doctor should be consulted immediately or if go to an ER if persisting.
Not had hallucinations, although some of those diseases my cause it. At 60mg I tend to be awake and speed talk. Up most of the night. Worked well when in hospital because nurses would talk with me. Not so great at home when husband wants to sleep.
I suggest you talk immediately to your doctor. This may well be a symptom of something else going on and it could prove dangerous for you.
You haven't listed your other meds which might also be the source. keep me posted ok? Will be thinking about you.
the only other meds I'm using is Celebrex 200mg/day...
Luckily it is happy hallucinations... :]
Celebrex is the problem. Get in to see your doctor right away. This is really important to treat now.
Psychosis is when you lose touch with reality. Hallucinations are when you perceive something that is not real. By definition, psychosis includes hallucinations. They can be auditory, visual, olfactory or tactile. Even though you define them as being a happy experience, they are still not normal. :-)
