I have been on Embrel for over 3 years but I'm starting to go backwards. Does this medication stop from working.

I have had RA for about 17years started with the enbrel and it worked wonders .I was feeling so good I decided I didn't need it and stopped taking it bc of side effects big mistake I have been on several other meds since and now have had to have feet surgery and now going for double knee replacement so I would discuss this with your rheumatologist. Enbrel put my RA in remission wish I hadn't been stupid and stopped. Maybe your Dr can add something with your enbrel or up your dosage.
I was instructed by my rheumatologist to stop my Enbrel for 6 weeks due to surgery - 2 weeks before and 4 weeks after. I came out of remission, and was told that all would go back to normal once I was back on it for a few weeks. I restarted and, to my horror, it didn't after three months! I was switched to Humira, which didn't work for me at all. I'm now on Actemra, and I'm doing much better after four months.
Please check in with your rheumy - they're the best to assess what's happening.
Good luck!
Jeannie; What you should do is check with your doctor prior to your next shot, How long has it felt like this Myself all the patients I know that Enbrel works so well for I have never had one complaint about this but that does not mean it is not possible, But best is to check with your doctor or the Pharmacist. And see if they have had anyone complain about this. best of luck to you
