I just saw on the label to discard any unused product within 24 hours. What are the reasons behind this? Does it become more potent or less potent?
I just drank half a bottle of magnesium citrate that has already been opened for 3 or 4 weeks?

There are so many brands of magnesium citrate on the market today that I can't be 100% sure but I imagine it is because it does not contain a preservative. The solution would be free from bugs whilst sealed but once opened can be easily contaminated. Solutions like this are usually stored in the fridge for 24 hours and any unused portion thrown away. Throw it away and buy a fresh bottle.
