IPF or Lung fibrosis is serious diesease. In USA, FDA recently approved OFEV, the first medicine to treat IPF. Similar medicine for such treatment was manufactured in INDIA, under the name, PIRFENIDONE and some persons who used it had severe side effect on Liver and had to discontinue for this reason.
Understand, similar medication is available in Europe under the name, ESBRIET Also understand, there is similar medication under the name, NINTEDANIB for Lung Fibrosis. All these names are confusing; can someone help clarify about these four different names or really four different medications for IPF???
What is the difference between ofev, nintedanib, esbriet & pirfenidone?

Okay, so the question now is, what is the difference between Ofev and Esbriet?
There are only TWO drugs involved here.
OFev and Esbriet are brand names for the drugs nintedanib and pirfenidone respectively.
Ofev is the band name for nintedanib which is used to treat a lung disease called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
Esbriet is the brand name for the drug pirfenidone and is also used to treat IPF.
