Yes that is higher than it should be. You should be in the range of 70 to 110 and yes metformin should help, but you will have to consult with your doctor on that, I have type 1.5 and am on metformin and Lantus and Humalog for my insulin, my fasting normally runs 80 to 110. But there's a lot of things that will effect your morning blood sugar reading. That's why you should consult your doctor.
