geokar; Yes you have great answers from my friends and everything is normal and at least your through the worst part of going on Zoloft which is the first 7 to 14 days but as said it can take 6 to 8 weeks total to reach your level and you can tell the doctor about this just in case they want to increase the dose that you're on. Remember to keep taking and don't miss any doses and it really helps to take about the same time each day.
geokar, this is the initial dosing schedule for Zoloft:
*Dosage in Patients with MDD, OCD, PD, PTSD, and SAD
The recommended initial dosage and maximum ZOLOFT dosage in patients with MDD, OCD, PD, PTSD, and SAD are displayed in Table 1 below. A dosage of 25 mg or 50 mg per day is the initial therapeutic dosage.
For adults and pediatric patients, subsequent dosages may be increased in case of an inadequate response in 25 to 50 mg per day increments once a week, depending on tolerability, up to a maximum of 200 mg per day. Given the 24-hour elimination half-life of ZOLOFT, the recommended interval between dose changes is one week.*
Talk to your doctor about the residual depression you are feeling as it may be time for an increase. Hang in there, my friend!
Hi geokar-
If the bouts of depression are minor and you feel pretty good, maybe just stay with the 50 mg for a few more weeks. Sometimes it can take 8 weeks for some people to reach a therapeutic dose. Be sure to talk to your doctor about how you are feeling and any options that are suggested.
