What will happen if you suddenly stop taking 20 mg fluoxetine? My friend has been taking it for 3 years. She ran out of the medication and is having withdrawals. Her doctor isn't available until next week.
Is it dangerous to suddenly stop taking 20 mg fluoxetine?

Answers
Hi, magicone!
Try asking the pharmacist if she can get enough of the medication to hold her until her doctor can send over a script.
This happened to me once and the pharmacy was very helpful.
Otherwise, the discontinuation symptoms will probably continue until she's back on the medication.
