... ofZoloft along with the 60 mg of cymbalta I am already taking. When I was tapering off of Zoloft I found that I felt better with the Zoloft. I’m a little nervous as they are two different kinds of antidepressants. And I asked her that and she said yes but they work in different areas of the brain and to watch out for drowsiness and rash.
Cymbalta and Zoloft? I had an appointment with my doc this morning and she put me back on 50mg...

Wendy,
It's not uncommon to prescribe antidepressant combinations with drugs from different classes. Zoloft is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) while Cymbalta is an SSNRI (selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor). Together they "cover more bases".
Not to scare you even more but there is a risk of a rare but serious condition called serotonin syndrome. That's why your doctor told you to watch for any sign of a rash which is a very early symptom that's easily treatable.
I was hoping you would comment. Thank you so much. I have been watching for a rash and so far so good. Also one more question. Since I quit taking Zoloft about a month and a half ago will I go thru all the side effects again. And again thank you so so much for answering.
You might have some side effects but if you do they should be more mild. At least you know what they might be. Good luck with it!
PS, You're very welcome. :<)
