About a year ago I started with antidepressants. I tried a couple different ones to get to one I felt best with. That was Cymbalta. I’ve had two kids ages 3&2. I had finally got back to my pre-pregnancy weight with my first child after having my second. Then I started taking Cymbalta and gained 30lbs in 6 months. My doctors refuses to listen to me and says that it’s all me. This is the only thing I’ve changed in my life. I feel like it has made me want to snack more and more. Has anyone else gained on this medication. I’m at a loss for words. It’s made me so unhappy with this weight gain!
Cymbalta causing my weight gain?

I never had any problems with my weight before Cymbalta, even after having 5 children. After I started taking Cymbalta I began gaining weight. I was on Cymbalta for 10+ years and I continued gaining weight until I gained over 80 pounds. When I hit 200 pounds I never got on the scales again. I refused to look at myself in the mirror because I was disgusted by how I looked. I was always a small woman before Cymbalta but at the end of my time on it I was wearing maternity clothes. I have talked to many people in a Cymbalta support group who have gained weight so it certainly isn’t all you! I have tapered off Cymbalta now and I’m losing the weight slowly. I’m not as small as I used to be yet but I can look in the mirror again without being disgusted. I wish I had known that all the problems I was having was from Cymbalta sooner so that I could have tapered off sooner than I did but I’m thankful that I finally found out.
I experienced consistent weight gain while taking Cymbalta even though I was still eating healthy and exercising. After taking it for several years I withdrew off of it (under my doctors supervision). It became very clear what side effects I was experiencing. The first thing that happened was my weight started decreasing within the first month, since discontinuing Cymbalta I have lost almost 50 pounds. The next thing I noticed was that the ringing in my ears was almost gone and my blood pressure went back to normal.
