Hi has anyone decreased their dosage from 10mg to 5mg after 3months?
Can I cut my lexapro dosage down to 5mg from 10mg? I have been on 10mg for 3 months?

I have been on 10mg for just over 3wks but I decided I could not handle the effect of unable to feel happy or sad, so decided to cut down to 5mg 2dys into my 4th week. I feel really agitated. I have a consultation with my gp on Monday and am going to ask him if I can get the liquid form as it allows you to taper off more slowly. I shall let you know how this goes. I think this is the worst medication I have ever been on.
The only one authorized to make dosage changes is the Dr who prescribes this for you, a 50% cut is huge, consult with the Dr, not only will you avoid the possible withdrawals from such a cut, you will preserve your relationship with the Dr.
Thankyou for your responses so far. I am very anti medicine and feel like im in a 'haze' hence why i think its time to reduce.
I hope you feel better. Keep us informed as we're all in this together. : )
I also went from 20mg to 10mg but I spoke to my doctor first. Then from 10mg to 5mg. It's safe to do but as usual always asks your doctor first. I didn't have any side effects so all was good.
I went from 20 mgs to 10mgs after two years. It was fine for me. But always let your doctor know.
