I was prescribed 37.5 ER capsules. I've only taken it for four days and it makes me feel awful. Was weaning off buspirone simultaneously. Still taking buspirone 5 mg twice a day. Can I just drop the venlafaxine after such a short time without withdrawal risk?
Coming off venlafaxine ER 37.5 after just a few days?

Hi, Crusty!
That's a very low dose taken for only a few days so you probably won't have problems because the drug hasn't had time to build up in your system.
Did you know that side effects generally resolve after just a few days to a week or so?
You should let your doctor know you want to stop and maybe discuss your options since you were taking the medications for a reason.
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better soon.
Hi WildcatVet
I have been corresponding with my doc via a patient portal message board. I did ask about dropping the meds, but haven't gotten a response yet. I was originally on Lorazepam for anxiety for a few years. I guess it worked so good I thought I didn't need it anymore and weaned myself off. Obviously that was a mistake. My new doc is very reluctant to prescribe Lorazepam, since its a benzo. The venlafaxine seems to give me chest pains, and since I have big time health anxiety, all I think is that I'm having a heart attack. Really interferes with my work. The doc also prescribed propranolol to combat the chest pains, flushed feeling, sweaty hands, etc.. Just doesn't seem right taking one med to combat another med that makes me feel bad. Gonna see how it goes today without the venlafaxine. Hopefully no issues since I've only taken four to this point. Thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately every medication has side effects... even aspirin and ibuprofen which we take without even thinking about it.
Usually side effects like you describe do resolve given a little time.
Hopefully you'll hear from the doctor soon and meanwhile don't let your anxiety do the talking. Half the game is realizing that your anxiety only makes your anxiety worse.
