Plavix has only a few side effects other then bleeding and bruising. I fear Julian, that you are seeking all the reasons his health has failed other then the real reason, he's 80 yrs old and he's ill. The elderly can be going along just fine, and then one thing happens and it knocks them into being ill.
Clopidogrel (Plavix) is an anti clotting medication used after a person has a stroke or heart attack or similar event or surgery involving the vascular system. The side effects are minimal except for easy bleeding or bruising or signs of another cardio/pulmonary event. I doubt just two tablets would cause your father to act any differently and it maybe crucial that he continue this medication at least for a significant period of time as determined by his doctor. I would discuss whether he should continue this medication with his primary care doctor before stopping it.
