I was curious as to what time everyone generally takes their Klonopin ... I'm on 2.5 mg. from my new sleep doc (he agreed with me when I saw him on Friday and even gave me refills! much improvement over my gp!) Thanks :)

Why would a doctor prescribe something like klonopin as a sleep aid? Klonopin is really for anxiety and panic attacks. There are plenty of things that you can take to make you drowsy, such as Benadryl, ambien, and even chamomile tea will make you sleepy. I don’t suggest people taking something like klonopin as a sleep aid, because the medicine is very good for people with anxiety issues, and a doctor shouldn’t waste prescriptions prescribing it as a sleep aid.
I take 3 mg, usually about 8:30am. I don’t go to sleep between 10:30pm and 11:00pm. I also take baclofen and Miraplex at the same time.
MY doc said to take them 2 hours prior. I started feeling a little different at about 1 hour.
I hope it works for you. I was put on it recently but i am a pretty messed up human Going from Ambien to Klonopin is making my life hell at this point. I am at 4 mg currently. Ijust can't turn my brain off . I cry it is so bad.
Take .5 about an hour before sleep and it works because it relaxes me. Good luck
Hi Sandra, I take mine after a snack about an hour before I go to bed. They do
work well for sleep, huh... DD ..Good Luck
Hello how are you
I take klonopin 1 mg only when I have panic attacks
And most of the time that's at 10 a.m.
I've been trying to take it about half hour before I know I'm heading to bed ... works most nights but not always ... sigh ... isn't it fun when all you want is sleep and it just won't happen!
You have to remember that Klonopin is a short term anti anxiety medication, it's also good for sleep, as your doctor prescribed it for you. I take 4 mgs. a day, and I take 2mgs, in he AM and 2mgs. in the PM. Now I do it this way because I have terrible anxiety in the morning and I also have a hard time sleeping. However, there are days when the 2mgs. in the AM don't carry me through until night, so I take the other 2mgs. in the afternoon. It's really a personal choice, as to when you take them. If you suffer from anxiety don't take them all at night, because they won't help your anxiety at night, you'll need them during the day when anxiety is at its highest. Now, if you are taking them for sleep, then take them at night. Klonopin, since it is a short term release medication needs to be taken when you need it most! That's the best answer I can give you right now to your question.
It all depends on you and when you need the medication. Also the reason you're taking it, anxiety, insomnia, or both, like me. As for any anti-depressant or anxiety medication you need to take them in the AM because while you're sleeping they will not help with either problem. My doctor told me this when I told her I was taking them at night to sleep, and that I felt horribly depressed and full of anxiety during the day, she said to take my major depressant meds and my major anxiety meds, both of which are longer lasting then Klonopin, in the AM and leave a little of the Klonopin for night when you can't sleep. I experimented with different combos, and times to find out what worked best for me. I finally found that my body works better if I take all my major anit-depressants in the morning along with my major anti-anxiety medication Now with my Klonopin I found I need half in the morning and the other half at night for sleep, unless it's been really anxiety filled day, then I'll take the 2nd half of my Klonopin dose in the afternoon. But all this scheduling took several days/weeks of trying all the various combos and times to find out what worked for me. May God Bless you and please feel free to write back if you have any further questions, this site is an amazing resource for help. We've all been where you are to some degree and we will never judge!!!
When do you typically take your evening meds? I take all of mine about an hour(give or take a little time here and there) before I intend to go to bed. They say to be absent from all electronic devices a while before you get in the mindset for sleep but I find it difficult to set my nook aside, thankfully(or not) since I have to wear glasses now they get cumbersome in bed so I stop reading before I would have before. Do you have Fibromyalgia with your restless leg syndrome? For me, I get muscle twitches that jolt me awake, such a pain. Have you tried the new dose, and has it helped you?
