My cat went to the vet for throwing up and a bit lethargic. Had X-rays and blood work and all was ok. They gave him a shot of Maripitant and he passed away 2 hours later. Eyes and mouth wide open like a seizure? Can anyone answer my question of why?
My cat got a shot of maropitant and died?

Tammy,
I’m so very sorry for your loss. I know very well how painful it can be especially when it’s so sudden and you don’t know why.
As you know Maropitant is used to control vomiting. It rarely causes side effects but respiratory distress and seizures are possible.
We may never know for sure but it may have been a side effect, he may have aspirated some vomit into his lungs, or there may been some underlying problem that the tests that were done couldn’t detect.
Have you talked to your veterinarian and were they able to give you any insight into what may have happened?
I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Again, my condolences go out to you.
