Nitrofurantoin is mainly for UTI's not for strep infections you will probably need a different antibiotic for strep. Each class of antibiotics works differently on separate infections. Hope this answers your question. Hope you feel better soon.
It may help but it's not the best antibiotic for strep throat. Nitrofurantoin is more for bacteria causing urinary tract infections.
