I read all the info in the packet but it didn't say anything about getting the patch wet
Butrans - Can you shower and swim wearing this patch or do I have to cover it with something?

If u read the pamphlets in the box, it says the Butrans patches are water proof. You can get them wet in the shower. I wear 2 Butrans patches and I take daily showers. Just make sure when drying, you put the towel on the patch , give it some pressure. Do not rub it back and forth. It will come off. As for swimming, even though it’s water proof, these patches DO NOT stay on when longer then 15 minutes in water.
I am on my fourth week and I have not protected my patches. I don't wash over the patch but I shower as usual. I do keep my temp of my showers down a little as I really like them hot. (Not sure if that's necessary) I also go to an aqua zumba class and have had no problems with the patches not staying on or coming loose.
I would get something like tegaderm to cover it when swimming, so it had more stick. It would also protect it. Tegaderm is a clear membrane, that holds well. It is called other things as well. Bioclusive is one of them.
Tegaderm is good to put on over you patch if it is falling off. If you put Tegaderm over the patch, when taking it off, it will also remove the Butrans patch.
