If I am allergic to penicillin would I be also allergic to azithromycin?
Is azithromycin of the same family as penicillin?

Will I be ok if I take this medicine if I can’t take penicillin
Well I know my mother was highly allergic to penicillin when she was little... my brother and I never was... but she had some issues a few years ago and the best treatment was penicillin based and they said let's do it cause your body changes what it likes and doesn't.. she is fine... but just a few years before that... I had never been allergic to anything... I all of a sudden became allergic to the Z-pak(azithromycin) I had angio-edima... never had a problem before... then I just found out last week my brother has had reactions to for a couple years, but only after he had angio-edima, a couple times, cause he didn't understand what it was... luckily he's ok, but had to go to er and they prescribed an EpiPen but he can't afford that!!! I was told I could not take the azithromycin or anything in the family which was penicillin or anything related... I had to take a much stronger drug and more if it... I had h.pylori...
Not even close
The meds in the penicillin family end in cillin, ampicillin amoxicillin etc.
I am extremely allergic to both, so yes even close
