I've been on many anti depressants over the last 10 years but none have made me feel like this. After my first tablet of venlafaxine this morning I felt normal for the first hour then felt dizzy and sick, I eventually was sick and it really wasn't pleasant! Still feeling a bit sick now and I'm meant to take my second tablet this evening but I'm scared it will make me sick again.. Has anyone else had this? And does it get any better?
Did anyone else have extreme sickness when starting venlafaxine?

I took this for the first time today in an attempt to switch from Bupropion. (75mg). I haven't been that sick since I had food poisoning! I was sweating uncontrollably, shaking, and vomiting non-stop. It was really terrible. I'm too scared to even cut the dose in half so I called my NP and we decided to just stick to Bupropion for now.
Yes my daughter who is now 22 yrs old has had the same reaction. It was so bad the doctor thought it was her gallbladder and removed it... It came back even worse. We are now looking into CBD to replace it.
What dose did you start on? I have had nausea for the first few pills, but that went away after that.
37.5mg twice daily. Ah hopefully it will pass then.. Thanks :)
That's a pretty strong reaction to just the first pill. It isn't unusual to have some mild nausea, headache, dizziness when first starting this medication, but if it continues to make you vomit then you'll need to talk to the doctor. Don't know what dosage the doc started you at, but you could ask the talk if you can start at a lower dose and work up.
Thanks for your reply! I've been put on 37.5mg twice daily. I'm hoping after a few days my body will be used to it but the nausea is really awful right now.
