Hi, ablueyed!
All benzodiazepines can help with anxiety as they are mild sedatives which help to mask the symptoms. But, unfortunately, they don't address the underlying disorder.
Have you ever considered therapy such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy? It should be the first line of treatment along with medication if needed.
Also, have you ever tried buspirone (BuSpar)? It a non-habituating anxiolytic that can help some people with anxiety/panic disorders.
Just some thoughts to discuss with your health care provider...
Best regards and I hope you're feeling better soon. Anxiety is a bitch to live with!
I agree with Wildcat. I take 20mg/ a day of BuSpar and I’m loving it.
I'm resistant to most medications so I take high end doses. 60mg/day (30mg am/pm) is my dosage and it's been a life changer for me.
Xanax can help with anxiety. It is highly effective for short term use (at least six weeks), but not for long term use, as you can build up tolerance.
