For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "Was prescribed Modafinil for my fatigue, concentration issues and memory issues. I started taking 100 mg the first 2 weeks. Then I Increased to 200 mg. I feel no difference at all. I am just as tired etc as I am without it. I drink enough. I eat well. I'm not sleep deprived. It seems like it works well for many people. Not for me."

For ADHD "I'm a 28 yo male, with former drug addiction (mainly GHB), ADHD and anxiety/depression related symptoms and treated with Zoloft 100 mg., baclofen 70 mg., modafinil 400 mg. daily and clonazepam 2-4 mg. when needed. Modafinil helps me to concentrate and focus without the side effects I've experienced with dexamphetamine, dexmethylphenidate and Ritalin® (methylphenidate). It also helps me with drowsiness and fatigue, caused by baclofen. Although I am a former drug addict, I don't experience any addiction or dependence problems with modafinil. I'm from the Netherlands, where my insurance covers the above medications fully."

Provigil (modafinil) for Narcolepsy "Does nothing for my narcolepsy. I stay on it because the doctor told me to and I’m not competent enough to know that it’s not working. Also I look like a drug seeker if mention anything, and don’t agree with the doctors recommendation. It gives me some anxiety, my body feels awake but my head feels sleepy. Does nothing for brain fog I get with my narcolepsy. Armodafinil works better"

Provigil (modafinil) for Narcolepsy "I experienced much greater effects from Provigil on initial exposure than I have during regular, ongoing treatment. Had the initial effects (perfect alertness without excessive excitability) continued it would merit a rating of 10. However, I still find it indispensable and would be hard-pressed to give up that particular prescription."

For Fatigue "This modafinil medicine worked great for fatigue, however after the first year I began to loose some teeth. My neurologist would always ask to see my mouth as soon as I started taking. Couldn’t figure out why until I began to loose teeth."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I was a very active, energetic, workaholic before getting CFS. Doing heavy physical labor & paperwork for 30 to 40 hrs at a time was no problem for me. Then it hit. I was devastated. I spent $4000 on tests & went to many Doctors. Finally I was diagnosed CFS. He was doing a clinical trial on Provigil (modafinil) & the early results were so good he wrote me a Rx for it. When I restart taking it after not using for awhile (Insurance Company hassles) I start with a 1/4 tablet (50 mg) for a few days, then 1/2 tab for about a week & 200 mg tablet per day. At times 2 tabs per day give me a slight extra boost. With this I get up to 10-20 % of MY previous energy levels. It's a Blessing."

Provigil (modafinil) for Depression "Provigil has been a HUGE help for me. I take nortriptyline for my depression. It works better than anything else I've tried but it makes it impossible for me to get up in the morning. When my alarm goes off at 7am I feel like I'm being tortured. I take half a tablet of Provigil at bedtime (11pm). It doesn't keep me from falling asleep but it does help me wake up alert at 7am. Without it, I'll sleep until at least 11:30am. This may be an off-label use but it makes it possible for me to take my antidepressant AND get to school/work on time."

For Fatigue " The first time I took modafinil was amazing. I’m having a hard time so using it for productivity at the desk, however it lifts my mood right away and it also makes me enjoy stuff more and be more social. I have insomnia so either way I have to take sleep pills this makes my sleep aid need stronger so undecided. I think the trick for office work is to only take once you took the first step in the project at hand otherwise it will help procrastinate because it gives energy for other things and makes u stay focus in that thing till u finish. I have hope for this medication but I have to figure out my dosage , frequency etc For the headaches just drink plenty of water before you get the headache and you won’t. Good luck ! I don’t have narcolepsy but rather insomnia"

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I am currently taking 60mg of Cymbalta, 3mg Xanax XR, and three weeks ago added 100 mg of modafinil. Before the modafinil I would wake in the morning feeling so physically exhausted it led me to tears. My brain fog was a mess, my thinking was disorganized. The modafinil has been a miracle for me and thus far no side effects. Although, I find it does not last the full ten to twelve hours as suggested. I am really clear and functioning well for five to six. Hey, I will take the five to six over having the alternative. Have appointment with Dr. next week to follow up. This is the first time since my diagnosis (12 yrs ago) that I actually feel hopeful. My prayers go out to all of you who suffer with this complex syndrome."

For Fatigue "I was diagnosed 7 years ago with Multiple Sclerosis. I have been very tired and kind of aggravated all the time because of it. My Doctor prescribed Provigil (Modafinil) For me last year. ITS A MIRACLE for me. REALLY! It used to take all of my energy just to get up to walk to the sink for a drink, Now I power through a day of work alert and ready for more work. I'm a cleaner, so I need energy. The surprise was with this medicine not only helped me to be more alert, awake and focused but I've also been in a really great mood as well. HUGE PLUS. Because I always felt angry and cranky. I was given 200 MG, however, I find that its a bit too much and makes my heart race so I break it in half and its perfect. "

For Fatigue "Absolutely changed my life. Started in early August. I can't describe it, there is no euphoria, no speed. I wake up take it and just attack the day in a steady calculated way. I used to drink a pot of coffee a day. I haven't had a cup of coffee since I started Provigil. I had all types of medicines for my anxiety and depression, ironically this is what works. Weird, but the by-product of being so productive each day and the feeling I set and achieve obtainable goals eliminated my anxiety and depression overnight. The first day I took it, 30 minutes after it kicked in, it was like something finally just clicked. This medicine has changed my life. I had 12 types of medicines, I tossed them all, now just Provigil and one for high blood pressure."

For Depression "Within days of taking provigil with another antidepressant I was feeling so much better. I was starting a new job and really needed to be on top of things, not sad and teary eyed. It gave me focus, energy and a feeling of wellbeing, finally! Unfortunately my current insurance will not ok it for treatment of depression as that was not what it was originally used for. Very disappointing because it worked so well for so many years."

For Fatigue "I had been taking Provigil for about 5 yrs., then the insurance co. would not pay for it any longer as it is very expensive. So, I started to take it in generic form, which is Modafinal. It did not work as well, but it was better than nothing. I continued to take the Modafinil for a couple of years and then my pharmacy switched mfgs. to Aurobindo. There was a definite difference in side effects with this company's product. It did not work, but seemed to have an opposite effect. Also, it made me feel fuzzy headed, flu like symptoms, headache, dizzy, all kinds of bad. I called my insurance co. and after speaking to 3 people I had Provigil approved. I am now free of all the bad side effects of Aurobindo Modafinil. My advice, get Provigil and don't take no for an answer."

Provigil (modafinil) for Narcolepsy "This med has been very helpful for my excessive daytime sleepiness (Idiopathic Hypersomnia). Probably saved me from ending my career as a therapist altogether, although I’m limited to seeing half the usual number of clients. First 100 mg dose at 8 am and I’m good to go for about 4 hours—and quite talkative and energetic. By noon or 1 I’m getting quite tired and, even though I take my afternoon dose of 100 mg, the rest of the day I typically feel quite tense and often irritable. Tight knot in upper back. Seeing clients is a real challenge. My life remains pretty limited by my idiopathic hypersomnia but I’m so relieved to at least be able to work enough to support my family. Losing that capacity altogether would have been devastating, so I’m very grateful for Provigil."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I was first given this medication modafinil in October when I volunteered to go to an in-patient facility for my depression. They put it on me for my chronic fatigue (that they later told me was from CFS). At first, it gave my body energy but still left my mind in a fog of tiredness. It also increased my heart rate and gave me anxiety like none I had every seen. That lasted for 2 or 3 days. When I was finally released, my insurance required prior authorization in order to fill the prescription. Of course it took my the collective amount of doctors from both my primary and the in-patient nearly 3 weeks to finally get the prescription filled. When I finally got back on it, I felt a little energized (of course I was on bed rest at the time for a foot injury, go figure). But that quickly wore off. I have been on it almost a month now and am pretty much back to where I was energy level wise. I was so hopeful too.."

For ADHD "I take a prodrug of modafinil called adrafnil but has similar effects, I feel energetic, productive, smart and speedy. This drug works wonders for depression and has made me feel euphoric. I recommend modafinil to anyone facing concentration and depression problems. I started a new job and have A's in school."

For ADHD "Wow is all I can say. I asked my doctor about Modafinil for my excessive daytime sleepiness and hypersomnia. She mentioned it also might be helpful for my ADHD. I am also prescribed Adzenys (amphetamine) which is great for the cognitive and emotional dysregulation aspects of ADHD, but Modafinil handles other symptoms: overwhelmed mood that results in low energy, anxiety around task initiation, and of course excessive daytime sleepiness. This should be approved for ADHD. And no crash when it wears off!"

For Depression "I have suffered with depression for 4 years and have tried so many drugs that I have lost count. I finally found a combination of drugs that were working, but not completely. My NP then added Provigil and my depression resolved. I am able to get a lot done without feeling tired all of the time. However, I was on 200 mg and only had mild benefits. My NP increased the dose to 400 mg and it has helped tremendously. It has given me more hope that I have had in years."

Provigil (modafinil) for Narcolepsy "I took Provigil for about 7 years. When I was working my insurance covered it. I had not idea of the price. It is wonderful medicine but way too expensive if you have to pay for it. Without any discounts it's approximately $1,300 per prescription. Am on Medicare now and they will not cover it so am no longer taking. It was great on keeping me from sleeping all the time and helped a lot with my depression. Perhaps the price will come down someday and I can start it again. Highly recommended."

Provigil (modafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I have taken this medicine for sleep apnea and ADD as a replacement for Ritalin, which I became addicted to for a few years. Provigil does not affect me the same way in terms of a desire to increase the dose and it is very effective for day time wakefulness and for keeping my focus. I have had no negative effects from this - only positive. It is very expensive and if it wasn't for insurance coverage the medicine would cost $1,500 per month if out of pocket. "

For Depression "Had this added to my anti-depressant cocktail and I have to admit, it's given me more energy and increased my mood quite a bit. I was really surprised at it's effectiveness for depression and depression related fatigue. The only drawback for me is that I often get headaches when it starts to wear off. But overall a good medicine!"

Provigil (modafinil) for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "i am 60 years old and had been sleeping12 hours per night with a nap sometimes for 3 hours. am i depressed or chronically fatigued? i have been taking nuvigil and now i sleep 9 hours a night with no naps. i am now more excited about life. side effects? an hour after i take it (one dose 200mm in the am) i notice an effect similar to one cup of coffee that lasts a half hour then nothing. cost is $390 for a thirty day supply. insurance won't cover it. medicare will not except for NARCOLEPSY. . THIS IS NOT RELATED TO RITALIN OR AMPHETAMINES AND HAS A VERY low abuse potential in spite of what you may hear from college students. as more info comes in it would not surprise me that this would be the first drug used in treating depression. thanks"

Provigil (modafinil) for Shift Work Sleep Disorder "I have been on and off Provigil a couple times over the past few years after being diagnosed with sleep apnea. I first started with 100mg and a CPAP machine. I soon began to feel better but the CPAP did not last because I kept ripping it off in the night. So I ended both. Recently I have gone back on Provigil taking 200mg for shift differential disorder because of the long shifts and my inability to stay awake and falling asleep driving. What a difference. I can stay awake for my 12 hour shift and the 1 hour drive each way to work. I feel if I had not gone back on it I most likely would have wrecked to or from work by now. Only down fall is an occasional upset stomach if I don't eat before or immediately after taking it."

Before I started using it I said I would be happy to just sleep for the rest of my life. My insurance paid for it at first, but then stopped. I purchase it by prescription through inernet. "
