For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I took this 6 years ago when I went back to school. Worked great! Went back on a month ago and I am more tired now than when I went on it and can’t get anything done. Stuck in Zombie mode ! 200 mg split into half morning, half afternoon. Drinking tons of water to try to flush it out so I can drive home from work :("

Provigil (modafinil) for Shift Work Sleep Disorder "I was feeling extremely tired and unmotivated after a short time since beginning night shift (emergency worker) duty. My doctor prescribed Provigil. I had never even heard of it before. This is what I need. I am wide awake when I need to be, either day or night and I can still catch a cat nap on duty, and I don't have trouble sleeping in the daytime anymore. I know many people on provigil in emergency services. Almost all of us work nights or rotating shifts. I can't say I have heard of any ill side effects other than dehydration and headache. Drank more water and it all went away."

Provigil (modafinil) for ADHD "Provigil works great for energy, as well as ADD. I also suffer from Major Panic Disorder, and depression. This medicine gives me such a boost with no side effects, other then a little mood change late in the evening. I recently lost my health insurance due to my divorce, and could not afford it for 6 months, and what a difference I felt, no energy, and I slept more then ever. I think this medication is over priced, by all means, especially for people that it really works for and helps them though. The insurance company's need to cover this medicine, especially when it helps people with ADD and depression, and gives them energy that helps motivate them."

Provigil (modafinil) for ADHD "I really love Provigil. I used it for ADD. Provigil helped me stay focused and motivated. The only side effect was if I took it to late in the day I might have a little trouble getting to sleep. It makes sense because it is a stimulant. It is a great drug for ADD because it doesn't cause all those nasty side effects other ADD drugs have. Unfortunately I have to stop using it because insurance won't cover Provigil because it has not been approved to be used as an ADD drug. Completely disappointing. It truly is an amazing drug for ADD."

For ADHD "I am a former cocaine addict who has struggled with low mood and cravings long after I stopped using. My psychiatrist said cocaine increases dopamine and now I was suffering from not enough of it. He said Provigil can increase dopamine without the dangerous effects of cocaine. I take 200mg twice a day and I feel the best I've felt in ages."

For Fatigue "Since my hospitalization with lung nodules in 2016, I have been totally devoid of energy. Recently, it has gotten worse. I spend most of the day in my recliner. My PCP prescribed modafinil and I took my first tablet this morning. The walk I took this evening approached power walking! It is now 10 PM and I am sitting here feeling as alert as I did when I first woke up this morning. In my particular case it has been nothing short of amazing. “Viagra for the brain” is how one article I read referred to modafinil. It has energized both brain and body. I couldn’t be happier! It’s a very expensive drug, so remember to use vouchers etc and shop around I cannot recommend it highly enough!"

Provigil (modafinil) for Narcolepsy "I have taken provigil years ago with no significant improvement. I went through the last 20 years being prescribe Xyrem, Cylert, Adderall, Ritalin and recently Provigil along with Ritalin. None of these drugs provide wakefulness that last more than 3-4 hours. I can take the combination of Provigil and Ritalin at 9am and fall back to sleep at 9:30 am. I take my medication on an empty stomach but the wakefulness is almost non existent. I want to volunteer to be a case study because I believe I am a rare individual with Narcolepsy. I want to find out if there is an underlying problem because I hear of people getting addicted to these drugs and they barely have an affect on me. I want to live a normal life and not be sleepy all day, everyday."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I was diagnosed with CFS 18 years ago. When it gets really bad, I have major cognitive problems, memory loss, confusion and my speech even becomes more simple (small words less educated). I've been on modafinal (provigil) for over 6 years. Had to slightly up my dose about 3 years ago. I can hold a job and function well provided I don't over do it. My brain just "clicks" better again. Closer to normal. Slight side effect of nausea similar to morning sickness for about 3 hours after taking is well worth the benefit"

For Depression "I was severely depressed and fatigued when I began to take Modafinil in 2000. It really helped turn my life around! I'm a recovering alcoholic with 26 years of sobriety. My first 3-1/2 years sober, I felt much better from not drinking, but I had this lingering depression and fatigue I couldn't shake. Modafinil made a difference right away - the first day! I've been able to have a successful career and the energy to do many things, to enjoy life! I break the 200 mg tabs in half and take them at 6:30, 8:30, and 11:30. I'm 72 now."

For Fatigue "Modafinil worked great for me, at first, to be alert and increase productivity, until I was out of medication and my fatigue hit me like a freight train stopping all productivity. The headaches were avoided when I stayed hydrated and only took in the first half of the day. It controlled my appetite and even help with weight loss and management. It sounds pretty good at first but after a few months I realized I was creating a bigger problem than I had before. Please do yourself a favor and only take if and as prescribed by your doctor and well monitored. There are a lot of miracle drugs and nootropics available out there if you search hard enough. This is not all that hard to come by and can have more risk and long term negative effects than benefits, if not taken properly. Please be careful and don’t make problems worse for yourself or others."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I have had a horrible CFIDS relapse that we think occurred to due a CMV infection. I could barely function at work due to fatigue and brain fog. The doctor finally agreed to prescribe modafinil 100 mg in am and 100 mg midday. I feel so much better, but the insurance did not want to cover it. We battled for a week and finally got approval. This med has worked wonders for me."

For Depression "I am currently taking Venlafaxine 225, Risperidone .50 and Buspirone 7.5 for OCD, Depression, and Social Anxiety Disorder. After experiencing excessive daytime sleepiness, my doctor prescribed Modafinil 300. Not only has it CURED any notion of sleepiness during the day, but it has augmented my other medications 2-fold! I don't know what it would or would not do as a monotherepy, but it has helped tremendously and I am now asymptomatic. Additionally, it has increased my cognitive function - directly or indirectly - such that I scored 12 points higher than previous on a standardized IQ test. I am now a member of Mensa. These are anecdotal, subjective observations to be sure, but I am convinced of its efficacy for multiple issues."

For Depression "I have a smart psychiatrist who sees a lot of folks with chronic fatigue and is very used to using modafinil. I've struggled with depression since I was a teenager, on and off. I'm now 71. It doesn't flare up often anymore, but when it does, I begin low dose prozac (10 mg) and then, if that doesn't do the trick, I augment it with low dose (100mg) Provigil. I have even been known to cut the tablet into quarters and have gotten some relief from that. It's kind of amazing. I don't like to use it often as I have a hard time sleeping in general, and Provigil tends to exacerbate that particular issue. But intermittently it is a life saver. Life is too short to be feeling horrible."

Provigil (modafinil) for Narcolepsy "I am a former college football player who has had narcolepsy for years. I have been on Provigil for over a year now. I started with the lowest dose possible and after 3-6 months am now on the highest dose possible. The medicine has little side effects for me which is great except it curbs my appetite a bit. But I find my body has become immune to the medicine as the impact becomes less and less. I take 4 pills a day and even though I am not falling asleep as much and wasting the day away, I still have no energy. When I am sitting there awake I'm just useless. I don't want to go on an amphetamine but this medicine just isn't working to well for me."

For Depression "Highly rate this medicine. It's not an anti-depressant but with depression comes a lot of sleepiness which this is great for. Also the AD's often cause sleepiness. Modafinil does what it says it does. It keeps you awake/alert and combats AD induced fatigue/tiredness. I'd question if it makes you 'smarter'. For me (83kg, male, 27 YO) at 100mg it is a mild keep me awake. At 150 it's perfect. At 200mg it's stimulating, alerting and induces mild hypomania (Which is okay but I feel slightly too 'buzzed' at 200mg). No bothersome side effects experienced other than mild hypomania which is sometimes pleasant and not too alarming. NOTE - I am prone to anxiety but this did not increase anxiety levels for me. Do not take 8 hrs b4 planning on sleeping."

Provigil (modafinil) for Narcolepsy "I have taken Provigil for 5 years now (since I was 16) 400 mgs a day, as the lower dosage was ineffective. It has been a Godsend. I really struggled through school, and whilst it didn't help me get top grades, it did wonders for keeping me awake during lessons. I'm awake for around 15 hours a day, with a 2 hour nap in the afternoon and 7 hours sleep at night. The best part is being able to have a sleep pattern, something which beforehand, I could never experience. Without this drug I couldn't never get anything done."

Provigil (modafinil) for Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome "I have Sleep Apnea and use CPAP but unfortunately the CPAP doesn't completely resolve the exhaustion. I take 200mg Provigil once a day and it has given me my life back. I was in danger of losing my job because the exhaustion caused me not to be able to focus or produce. Once on the Provigil, my boss says he has been blown away by my performance. No side effects whatsoever."

Provigil (modafinil) for Narcolepsy "I've had delayed sleep phase syndrome, mood disorder and ADHD all my life, due to brain injury at birth and a family pattern of delayed sleep phase syndrome. I managed a successful professional career but with great difficulty and with struggles with different medications. I way overused caffeine, with mixed results and side effects. Provigil has been wonderful and I wish it had been available when I was a child and in school and working. I feel normal and alert and not constantly fighting sleepiness, inattention and depression. I can't help wondering how much better I might have done with this medicine. It is helping me with my second career as an artist. "

For Depression "After suffering from severe depression and PTSD; and having been prescribed Luvox, Wellbutrin, Paxil, Zoloft, and combinations for over 20 years; I read about Modafinil being used off label. The only antidepressant that had helped previously was the Zoloft. After several years; it lost the effectiveness from when I first began taking it. In the meantime, I became permanently disabled due to MANY physical conditions along with my mental conditions. My doctor added Modafinil to my daily regiment of medications. I can think more clearly; and don't lose my train of thought, nor become distracted as often before taking Modafinil. It has been a blessing for me and I have not experienced any ill side effects."

I am a cab driver able to do airport runs thinking clearly and never tired. I don't take it every day just 100mg or half a tab before driving. I can do all my paperwork now and am enjoying life."

For Depression "I selected "depression" but this medicine has been beneficial for fatigue and hypersomnia as well. Started using this medicine in 2006! Yes, and I have tried almost everything else for depression, and I cannot say the side-effects or results from so-called approved depression medications were ever worth the horror they delivered. So, yes, I would recommend this for depression in the form of modafinil."

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I started taking 200 mg of Modafinil a couple weeks ago for debilitating chronic fatigue. It has definitely had a positive effect, although a subtle one. I am more awake, better able to focus and it is easier to overcome the inertia required to start something. I haven't suddenly become energetic or highly productive like others, but there is a subtle difference. Unfortunately it has seriously impacted my sleep. My brain stays awake most of the night even though my body is exhausted. Additionally it gives me a pressure headache behind my eyes, and overall just makes me feel a little strange."

For Depression "Have been taking modafinil now for a month to help my depression and just progressed from a starting dose of 100 mg/d to 200mg. So far I have found it to be very good. I’m 65 and for the past couple of years I had been very apathetic about whether or not I went to work. Small tasks in life, to say nothing of some if the less pleasurable tasks at work, seemed overwhelming, so I would simply not do then, but not anymore. Interactions with superiors are a lot smoother. My psychiatrist initially prescribed modafinil a a drug to help this stop using cocaine, and it is working. When I saw him the other I said, where has this medicine been all my life? So far all effects seem positive. At least for me. Used online coupons to get a month’s supply for ~$25. However prices vary widely eve. With coupons by pharmacy, from the price I pay to several hundred dollars a month. Otherwise my insurance wouldn’t cover it, even if my psychiatrist had listed an “on-label” need for it"

For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome "I haven’t seen my side effect listed. I sleep poorly. If I wake up and take a Modafinil, I immediately fall back into a profound sleep for 4 hours. This is weird and definitely not the point of taking the drug. On the other hand, it’s the type of deep sleep I can’t seem to get at night."

For Fatigue "I have severe fatigue and I tried this after using adderall for many years and it doesn't work. I was expecting a huge improvement from the reviews but I was beyond disappointed. I think the people that only benefit from this drug are the types who fall for the placebo effect. It actually makes me more tired when I take it and I have no improvement with cognitive function whatsoever. Don't waste your money or your time on this drug."
