"My doctor prescribed this medication for my elbow. I've been having pain with extension/ flexion, and I have psoriasis so I think that may be the cause. Anywho, I started this last night while I wait on my dermatology referral. I slept great last night. However, I woke up in a fog. I could barely function at all. Luckily, I put it all aside just to take my kids to school. After I got home, I got ready to go to the gym and fell asleep on the bed, with my shoes still on. I am still feeling the effects of it and I will not be taking it again."

"Have been put on baclofen for spasms in legs and back after back fusion for injury due to train crash. The benefit has been enormous. I can now sleep, walk and lead an almost normal life. I only take 5mg three times a day."

"I took this for 1 week and not only did it do nothing for my muscle spasms but it made me depressed. I had never been like this in my life!!! Thankfully I realized what was happening and stopped taking them immediately. So, ineffective and severe side effect. Not taking ever again. "

"Was taking baclofen 20mg 3 times a day for cervical degenerative disc disease. I didn't think it really helped until I ran out, now I noticed that my neck hurts more and is stiffer. I moved out of state and now I don't qualify for insurance. I also had a hard time sleeping while taking it, but I also have insomnia so I can't say for sure if the baclofen was causing it or not. I just noticed a difference when I ran out."

"I am an outdoor type of person, but since taking 10 mg of baclofen 3 times a day as directed, I have to cover up at all times when outdoors. Causes the skin to burn even by less than 30 minutes of sunlight."

"I fell and have had muscle spasms in my mid and upper back. Couldn’t sleep it hurt so bad. Had massage. Took steam shower. Took Advil. Went to my doctor and get this rubbish drug. I took it as prescribed and it’s like a placebo. It didn’t do anything at all. Calling back my doctor for something else first thing today!"

"I only gave this medication a 10 because there wasn't a higher rating available!! I have severe muscle spasms, I also have some myalgias too. With the combo of Lyrcia and baclofen I can walk again without severe pain. I have had no side effects, and I'm not all doped up on Soma anymore!"

"If you're taking baclofen for general back spasms, BEWARE. There are so many other medicines that do a great job instead of baclofen. This is from "side effects" 'Do not use baclofen at a time when muscle tone is needed to assure safe balance and movement for certain activities. In some situations, it may endanger your physical safety to be in a state of reduced muscle tone'. Well, muscle tone is needed to stand and do normal activities. BEWARE: do not take it when drinking alcohol."

"I was prescribed Baclofen for intermittent spasticity in my thoracic back. Also for neck, and low back spasms/nerve pain, but it's been the thoracic pain in the past 2 years that more often than not is at times literally unbearable. My thoracic back at it's best is constant aching/stabbing. Baclofen stinks, it makes me severely groggy, (but so do many medications) and no pain relief even having tried between low to high dosages. 1500 mgs of Methocarbomol before bed is an oldie but a goodie. It'll put me to sleep during the day too, but at least it works and doesn't have the bizarre loopy type side effects. However I DO NOT take it with any other medication that causes drowsiness, no narcotics, no alcohol etc..."

"Baclofen is so good! Some drowsiness, although could be from Lyrica, which I stopped today due to my new Fred Flintstone feet (Side effect from Lyrica - needed Ultrasound to rule out DVT - clots in leg). Okay for pain after short buildup period, but after that period I started getting MOST of the listed side effects of Lyrica - including the ER visit with the swollen feet). I had spinal surgery and now suffer SEVERE back spasms. (I'm worse off after surgery). I now have MORE nerve pain - so hence the Lyrica - and really bad spasms when I stand for short periods or lay in one position and Baclofen is a God send."

"I felt a burning sensation in my stomach. My ortho took it upon himself to change from diazapam to baclofen. I've been not sleeping, and I'm irritable. I've filed a complaint thru my insurance, as well as the ortho office. It's Sunday, but I have a 915 appt with the ortho."

"I have very bad muscle spasms and cramps that turn my foot completely sideways and splay all my toes. It’s excuciating pain. Baclofen made it worse. The day I tried it I had the spasms 12 times during the night. Won’t be taking it again. I guess crying and screaming is my option."

"After a typical ACL reconstruction - my central nervous system went haywire. It's thought that I might have had an adverse rection to the Lyrica that I was put on shortly after my operation. Doctors have no idea why and for months after I had agonising nerve pain all over my body. After a few months, the only pain I have left has been in my lower back. Although I can still function - it was bad enough that I dreaded simple things like car trips or sitting at my desk at work. My GP suggested Baclofen and it's done wonders. I only take one 10mg tablet at night but it's enough that I have no muscle pain at all. It's been a miracle and I've had literally no side effects (probably due to being on such a low dose)."

"I have been suffering from a dull and persistent pain on the right side of my abdomen near my rib cage for several months. I had blood tests and abdominal ultrasound with results indicating "normal" appearance. The pain persisted and I could control it to some extent (not great) with Tylenol extra strength. Then I asked my doctor to prescribe 10mg baclofen, which I have been taking 3 times daily for about two weeks. I noticed my abdominal pain eased after 2 days of the medication. I haven't been experiencing abdominal pain except on rare occasion since I have been taking baclofen. I feel totally functional and thankful that I don't have to live in pain any longer."

"The baclofen I took for muscle spasm spiked my Tinnitus considerably. I had to stop taking it after just a few days and my Tinnitus has returned to the point before starting this drug. I honestly could tell no reduction in my pain while taking it."

"I was using a walking stick 2 weeks ago. I don't feel like my legs are made of rubber anymore and am able to walk short distances without assistance. I am excited about this medication and the future of walking again. I am still working through the need to take an afternoon nap."

"I have a partially paralyzed left leg due to SCI with extreme tone and strong muscle spasms. The first time I tried Baclofen the side effects were so severe that I could not tolerate the medicine at all. The second time I worked up to 60mg per day at 5mg intervals over a couple of months. Virtually no side effects at all this time but it takes a while. Baclofen with Botox injections to my hip flexor, hamstrings, and dorsiflexor make my situation bearable. Baclofen works well at 20mg, less than the prescribed dosage."

"I have tried many spasm medications since 2002 for major muscle spasms. I was in a car accident and now I'm left with very bad uncontrollable spasms. This is the only one that worked, but after 6 years of taking it, it doesn't work anymore but for short term usage of this medication it works very well."

"I had back surgery- severe, debilitating migraines (one per week)- a stroke at age 30 (8 years ago)- knee, shoulder, wrist, ankle and hand surgeries. Call me Humpty Dumpty because I would have fallen apart but Baclofen has helped put me back together again. It cuts down on the spasms and helps dull the pain. My migraines are down to 1 a month and over within 12-24 hours. I take 10MGs x 8 pills before bed. I take Ambien to help me sleep but have HUGE problems waking up and staying awake. I have fallen asleep at work (bad when you are a teacher). My Dr. started me on Nuvigil 250MG mornings and it is a life/job saver. Also taking Seroquel, Nexium, Triliptal, Exalgo, Lexapro, 15000 UI of vitamin D and had to start Hyzaar since beginning Baclofen."

"I've been taking this medication for so long I don't know if it helps or not. I have M.S. and severe muscle spasms in my lower back as well as tightness in my legs. After reading the comments here, I've decided to ask my neurologist to either up the dosage or try another medication."

"I've only been on the medication for a as days but it's the first time in years that I haven't had that seized knots in my back . So I am fairly happy with the medication despite the drowsiness its causing. I hope that in a few weeks the drowsiness will go away. At least it doesn't knock me out like Rosario or tizinadine does."

"I began taking Baclofen 14 years ago. I started with 10 mg three times a day. After six months, my doctor increased it to 20 mg, and I eventually went to 40 mg twice times a day. Through all of this, I got only marginal relief. Last year, I had the intrathecal pump installed. So far, I still have had only marginal relief. My left hamstrings are very painful throughout the day. Massage is helpful, but very temporary. I'd love to find something that really relaxes my spasms."
