FDA pregnancy category: C Use of Omeclamox-Pak (R) is not recommended unless the benefit outweighs the risk to the developing fetus and there is no appropriate alternative therapy.

There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Multiple cohort studies in pregnant women exposed to omeprazole during the first trimester do not show an increased risk of congenital malformations. FDA pregnancy category C: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

A decision should be made to discontinue breastfeeding or express and discard milk during treatment with omeprazole. Caution is recommended with amoxicillin and clarithromycin. Excreted into human milk: Yes (omeprazole and amoxicillin); Unknown (clarithromycin) Excreted into animal milk: Yes (omeprazole and clarithromycin); Data not available (amoxicillin) The effects in the nursing infant are unknown.
